BALTIMORE–The Orioles traded right-handed pitcher Scott Blewett to the Atlanta Braves for cash considerations on Sunday night. Blewett had been designated for assignment on Saturday.
Blewett was designated for assignment by Minnesota on April 12th, selected off waivers by the Orioles on Monday, and after pitching twice and throwing 4 1/3 scoreless innings, was cut by the Orioles to make room for starter Brandon Young. Knowing he would be claimed, the Orioles traded him to Atlanta.
He allowed an unearned run on five hits, struck out six and walked one in his two Orioles games.
In 21 big league games with Kansas City, the Twins and Orioles, Blewett is 1-1 with a 1.93 ERA.
