BALTIMORE–Brandon Young, the Orioles’ minor league pitcher of the year in 2024, will make his major league debut on Saturday against the Cincinnati Reds. Young will be on the club’s taxi squad for Friday night’s game.
The 6-foot-6, 26-year-old right-hander is 1-1 with a 2.76 ERA in three starts with Triple-A Norfolk. He’s struck out 17 and walked two in 16 1/3 innings.
While Norfolk has been in Omaha this week, Young was transferred to High-A Aberdeen’s roster so that he could be nearby.
The Orioles will need to drop a player from the 26-man roster to make room for Young.
Young, who was 5-6 with a 3.57 ERA in 27 games with Norfolk and Double-A Bowie last year, was added to the 40-man roster last November and was in spring training with the Orioles.
