The Orioles claimed 29-year-old right-handed pitcher Scott Blewett off waivers from the Minnesota Twins on Monday. Blewett, who had a 1.93 ERA in two appearances with the Twins, had been designated for assignment on Saturday.
In 19 games in four seasons with Minnesota and Kansas City, Blewett is 1-1 with a 2.18 ERA. He’s struck out 31 and walked 14 in 33 innings. He has yet to report to the Orioles.
To make room for Blewett on the 40-man roster, the Orioles designated left-hander Luis González for assignment. González is 1-0 with a 5.79 ERA in four games with Triple-A Norfolk.
