The Orioles will have shortstop Gunnar Henderson back for Friday night’s game in Kansas City. Henderson, who had been on the 10-day injured list with a strained right intercostal muscle, has been activated.
To make room for Henderson, who finished fourth in American League Most Valuable Player voting on the 26-man roster, outfielder Dylan Carlson was optioned to Triple-A Norfolk after Thursday’s game.
The Orioles are 3-4 without Henderson, who suffered the injury when he caught a line drive from Toronto’s Bo Bichette on February 27th.
Henderson had just six at-bats in Grapefruit League games. He stayed behind in Sarasota after the Orioles left to get extra at-bats and had a five-game rehab assignment for Norfolk. He was 5-for-19 (.263) with two home runs and four RBIs in those five games.

Carlson, who was recalled when Colton Cowser went on the 10-day injured list with a fractured left thumb on Monday, was hitless in four at-bats with an RBI on a sacrifice fly.
