TORONTO—The Orioles placed Albert Suárez on the 15-day injured list with right shoulder inflammation. The move is retroactive to Saturday.
Taking his place in the bullpen is right-hander Matt Bowman, whose contract was purchased from Triple-A Norfolk.
Suárez allowed two runs, one unearned, on five hits in 2 2/3 innings on Friday. The velocity on the fastball for the the 35-year-old right-hander was down.
Bowman was added to the 40-man roster last Sunday but was outrighted to Norfolk on Thursday. He allowed a run on a hit in 1 2/3 innings, striking out three for Norfolk on Friday.
In 2024 for the Orioles, Bowman compiled a 3.45 ERA over 15 2/3 innings. He has a 4.17 ERA in 216 innings over his major-league career.
The move fills the Orioles’ 40-man roster.
