TORONTO—The Orioles acquired right-handed pitcher Cody Poteet from the Chicago Cubs on Saturday in exchange for cash considerations.
The 30-year-old right-hander had been acquired by the Cubs from the New York Yankees in December in exchange for Cody Bellinger.
Poteet was designated for assignment by the Cubs.
Last season, Poteet was 3-0 with a 2.22 ERA in five games, four starts, with the Yankees. In 2021 and 2022, Poteet was 2-4 with a 4.45 ERA in 19 games with Miami.
The Orioles have optioned Poteet to Triple-A Norfolk, and his acquisition gives them 39 players on the 40-man roster.
