SARASOTA–Orioles infielder Jordan Westburg is out of the lineup with a sore lower back, manager Brandon Hyde said on Thursday. Westburg was 1-for-2 in Saturday’s Grapefruit League opener but hasn’t played since.
“He’s really improving a lot every day,” Hyde said. “He should be OK for sometime in the next few days. You see he hasn’t been in the lineup for the past couple of days. He probably won’t for the next couple, either. He felt it in the cage a little bit swinging. It’s a precautionary few days off.”
Westburg isn’t swinging the bat, yet.
“He’s pretty much just getting treatment right now. I think maybe he’ll start swinging in a day or two,” Hyde said.
