Orioles infielder Gunnar Henderson fields a ground ball during drills on Tuesday. The Baltimore Orioles held their first full-squad workout of the 2025 spring training season on Tuesday, Feb. 18th in Sarasota, Florida.
SARASOTA–Orioles shortstop Gunnar Henderson left Thursday’s game against the Toronto Blue Jays after the first inning with lower right side discomfort, the team announced. Henderson led off the bottom of the first with a groundout to first base and left the game afterward. He was replaced by Luis Vázquez.
Henderson’s start to 2024 spring training was delayed by left oblique soreness.
In 2024, Henderson hit .281 with an .893 OPS, 37 home runs and 92 RBIs, finishing fourth in the voting for the American League Most Valuable Player.
Earlier on Thursday, Orioles manager Brandon Hyde said that infielder Jordan Westburg had lower back discomfort and would miss a few more days. Westburg last played on Saturday.
