BALTIMORE–As expected, the Orioles didn’t go with a sixth starter for long. Right-hander Brandon Young was optioned to Triple-A Norfolk on Thursday, one day after he allowed four runs on five hits in four-plus innings in the Orioles’ 7-0 loss to the Texas Rangers.
In three starts for the Orioles, Young, who was the organization’s minor league pitcher of the year last year, is 0-2 with a 7.11 ERA.
Young was replaced on the roster by right-hander Kade Strowd, who’s allowed one run on two hits in one inning in his only major league appearance. Strowd was recalled from Norfolk.
Note: The Orioles-New York Mets game on July 9th will be televised exclusively by ESPN. Game time is 7:05 p.m.
