Former Orioles centerfielder Adam Jones is on the ballot for the Baseball Hall of Fame that was announced on Monday.
Jones, arguably the most popular Oriole of the 21st century, played 11 of his 14 major league seasons with the team and is among the all-time leaders in hits (1,781), home runs (263) and games played (1,613), RBIs (866) and runs scored (875).
A five-time All-Star, Jones won the Gold Glove in center field from 2012-2014 and a Silver Slugger in 2013 when he hit 33 home runs and drove in 108 runs.
No other Orioles are on the 28-player ballot.
Holdover Billy Wagner, who fell just short of election a year ago with 73.8 percent of the vote, returns for the 10th and final year.
Ichiro Suzuki and CC Sabathia join Jones and 11 other new candidates: Pitcher Félix Hernández, outfielder Carlos González; infielders Dustin Pedroia and Hanley Ramírez; reliever Fernando Rodney, second baseman Ian Kinsler; second baseman/outfielder Ben Zobrist; shortstop Troy Tulowitzki; catchers Russell Martin and Brian McCann; and outfielder Curtis Granderson.
Other leading returnees are Andruw Jones with 61.6 percent and Carlos Beltán with 57.1 percent.
Players must receive 75 percent of the vote from 10-year members of the Baseball Writers’ Association of America. They may remain on the ballot for 10 years as long as they receive five percent of the vote.
Voting ends on December 31st and new members of the Hall of Fame will be announced on January 21st.
