Should Orioles extend Eflin? | MAILBAG

Question: Zach Eflin has a contract for 2025. Do you think the Orioles will offer him an extension? What about the other players obtained at the deadline? Seranthony Domínguez, Eloy Jiménez, Austin Slater, Gregory Soto? From: Nathawmit

Answer: Eflin does have a contract for 2025, and I think the Orioles would like to see how he performs next year before offering him an extension, though I don’t think it’s an awful idea.

Slater becomes a free agent five days after the World Series. Domínguez has an $8 million option for next year that the Orioles can exercise. Soto is under club control for next year, and  Jiménez has a $16 million option that won’t be picked up.

Question:  You may have already addressed this and I simply missed it. If so, I apologize. Do the O’s have anyone playing in the Arizona Fall League? From: Dave Gruber

Answer: Dave, I briefly mentioned it the end of the season and haven’t revisited it, but here are the Orioles’ players on the roster of the Surprise Saguaros: right-handed pitchers Zane Barnhart, Tyler Burch, Preston Johnson, Houston Roth; left-hander Juan Rojas; catcher Creed Willems; and outfielders Jake Cunningham and Douglas Hodo III.

Surprise’s manager is Double-A Bowie manager Roberto Mercado.

Most weekdays, I’ll be answering at least one Orioles question. If you’d like to submit a question, send it to: Rich@BaltimoreBaseball.com. Questions may be edited for clarity, length and style.
