Orioles acquire outfielder/DH Eloy Jiménez from White Sox

BALTIMORE—In their second trade on Tuesday and fourth before the 6 p.m. trade deadline, the Orioles acquired right-handed hitting outfielder/designated hitter Eloy Jiménez and cash considerations from the Chicago White Sox.

The 27-year-old Jiménez, is completing a six-year, $43 million contract that has team options worth $16.5 million in 2025 and $18.5 million in 2026 or a $3 million team buyout. He’s hitting .240 with five home runs and 16 RBIs with a .642 OPS in 65 games this season.

Jiménez hit 31 home runs and drove in 79 runs in 2019, his first year with the White Sox.

The Orioles are sending minor league left-hander Trey McGough to the White Sox, according to USA Today, McGough, a graduate of Mount St. Mary’s in Emmitsburg, was 2-0 with a 1.99 ERA and two saves in 28 games for Triple-A Norfolk and Double-A Bowie this season.

Earlier on Tuesday, the Orioles traded for left-handed starter Trevor Rogers from the Miami Marlins in exchange for second baseman Connor Norby and outfielder Kyle Stowers.

On Friday, they dealt outfielder Austin Hays to the Philadelphia Phillies in exchange for relief pitcher Seranthony Dominguez and outfielder Christian Pace. They also acquired right-handed starter Zach Eflin from Tampa Bay for three prospects.
