O’Hearn joins Rutschman, Henderson, Mountcastle, Westburg, Santander as Orioles’ All-Star finalists

BALTIMORE—There will be six Orioles in the final phase of All-Star voting. Catcher Adley Rutschman, shortstop Gunnar Henderson and first baseman Ryan Mountcastle finished first in the first phase of voting while third baseman Jordan Westburg and designated hitter Ryan O’Hearn finished second, and outfielder Anthony Santander was fourth among outfielders.

Rutschman will face Kansas City’s Salvador Perez in the final vote among catchers. Henderson and the Royals’ Bobby Witt Jr. are the shortstop finalists. Mountcastle and Toronto’s Vladimir Guerrero Jr. are the first base finalists while Westburg and Cleveland’s José Ramirez will face off in the final phase of voting for third basemen.

O’Hearn, who was fourth in Monday’s voting, finished second to Houston’s Yordan Alvarez among designated hitters.

Santander faces Cleveland’s Steven Kwan, New York’s Juan Soto and Houston’s Kyle Tucker in the outfield voting.

New York’s Aaron Judge was the leading vote-getter, and he’s automatically named to the All-Star team for the July 16th game at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas.

Second baseman Jorge Mateo, outfielders Colton Cowser and Cedric Mullins are the only Orioles on the initial ballot not to advance to the final phase that begins on Sunday at noon and ends at July 3rd at noon.

Starters will be announced on ESPN on July 3rd at 7 p.m. Pitchers and reserves will be announced on ESPN on July 7th at 5:30 p.m.
