Orioles’ Hyde says Kremer is making progress on triceps strain injury

BALTIMORE—Oriole starting pitcher Dean Kremer, who’s on the 15-day injured list with a strained right triceps muscle, is improving, manager Brandon Hyde said before the Orioles played the Boston Red Sox in the second game of a three-game series at Camden Yards.

When Kremer was placed on the injured list last Friday ,with the move retroactive to May 21st, Hyde expressed optimism that the injury wouldn’t be a lengthy one.

“He’s doing well,” Hyde said on Tuesday. “It’s getting a little bit better every day. The soreness is going down, should be expecting to play catch here soon. So far, so good with him.”

Kremer is 3-4 with a 4.32 earned-run average in nine starts. He’s eligible to return on June 5th.

Hyde said that there was no word on pitcher John Means, who left his May 22nd start in St. Louis, and is on the 15-day injured list with a left forearm strain. Over the weekend in Chicago, Hyde said that Means was seeking a second opinion on the injury.

Tyler Wells, who’s been on the injured list since April 13th with right elbow inflammation, remains in Sarasota rehabbing.

Note: Houston claimed right-handed pitcher Kaleb Ort off waivers. Ort, who was at Triple-A Norfolk, was purchased from Philadelphia on February 19th and was 0-1 with a 12.08 ERA with the Tides.
