Two in a row for O’s! Westburg follows Cowser as American League Player of the Week

A week ago, Orioles leftfielder Colton Cowser was named the American League’s Player of the Week. This week, it’s Jordan Westburg’s turn.

The Orioles’ infielder hit .478 (11-for-23) with two home runs. eight RBIs, two doubles, a triple, a walk, five runs scored and a stolen base, a .913 slugging percentage and a major league leading 1.413 OPS.

Westburg had four games of two or more hits and RBIs. He has six games this year with multiple hits and RBIs, the most in the majors.

It’s the first time Orioles have won consecutive Players of the Week since Eddie Murray won on September 13th and 20th, 1981. It’s the third time in Orioles’ history. Don Baylor won on August 10th, 1975, and, a week later, Jim Palmer and Ken Singleton were co-players of the week.
