Orioles bring back infielder Tyler Nevin

The Orioles reacquired infielder Tyler Nevin from the Detroit Tigers for cash considerations on Monday night. Nevin, who was originally obtained from Colorado in August 2020 in a deal for reliever Mychal Givens, spent parts of the 2021 and 2022 seasons with the Orioles before his contract was sold to Detroit in January 2023.

Nevin hit .205 with three home runs and 19 RBIs in 64 games with the Orioles. The 26-year-old hit .200 with two home runs and 10 RBIs in 41 games for the Tigers in 2023.

In 99 career at-bats against left-handed pitching, Nevin has a .798 OPS.

The son of longtime major leaguer Phil Nevin, who managed the Los Angeles Angels in 2022 and 2023, Tyler Nevin plays the corner infield and outfield spots.

The Orioles now have 39 players on their 40-man roster.

Note: The Orioles reached agreement with left-handed pitcher Cionel Pérez on a one-year contract with an option for 2025, avoiding arbitration. Outfielder Austin Hays, first baseman/outfielder Ryan O’Hearn, left-hander Danny Coulombe and right-hander Jacob Webb remain unsigned.
