The Orioles are hiring Atlanta Braves bullpen coach Drew French as their pitching coach. French is replacing Chris Holt, who is leaving that role but remaining in the organization as director of pitching.
The news was first reported by MASNSports.com and confirmed by an industry source.
The 39-year-old French, who did not play professionally, served as the Braves’ bullpen coach for the past three years and before that was in Houston’s minor league system for four seasons.
French worked with Orioles’executive vice president/general manager Mike Elias with the Astros from 2016-2018.
He pitched and played outfield for Concordia University before coaching collegiately.
Besides Holt’s departure, assistant pitching coach Darren Holmes left the organization. No replacement has been named.
