Reports: Orioles pull MASN broadcaster Kevin Brown from telecasts

The Orioles pulled MASN broadcaster Kevin Brown from telecasts because he cited statistics about the team’s poor play in recent seasons, according to reports.

Brown has been absent from the team’s television broadcasts for the past two weeks. Geoff Arnold and Brett Hollander have substituted for Brown on recent broadcasts.

Brown, who has been with the Orioles’ broadcasts since 2019, cited a statistic on the July 23rd telecast from Tropicana Field that summarized the team’s recent substandard performance there from 2020-2022.

A number of teams’ broadcasts criticized the Orioles for their decision. On Monday night’s New York Mets game, broadcaster Gary Cohen lambasted the team: “You draped yourself in humiliation when you fired Jon Miller. And you’re doing it again. And if you don’t want Kevin Brown, there are 29 other teams that do.”

Miller, the longtime San Francisco Giants broadcaster who called Orioles games from 1983-1996, left after a dispute with Peter Angelos.

A senior Orioles official told The Baltimore Banner that the team doesn’t comment on employment decisions and Brown would return to the airwaves “in the near future.”

News about Brown was first reported by the website Awful Announcing.
