Catcher Adley Rutschman, who hasn’t played this season because of a strained right triceps muscle, will report to High-A Aberdeen on Tuesday to begin his rehab assignment, the IronBirds announced on Twitter. Pitching prospect DL Hall, who also has been in Sarasota after coming back from an elbow injury, will report to Aberdeen as well to continue his progression.
Right-handed pitcher Rico Garcia, who was signed to a minor league contract by the Orioles after Tommy John surgery in March 2021, is also going to Aberdeen on a rehab assignment.
Rutschman, Hall and Garcia are expected to be with Aberdeen this week.
Rutschman injured his triceps in a minor league intrasquad game on March 11th and has been working out in Sarasota since spring training ended.
Hall, who threw one inning in a Grapefruit League game, was on the development list, a new designation this because of the shortened spring training. Unlike Rutschman and Garcia, Hall is on the Orioles’ 40-man roster.
The IronBirds will play Jersey Shore on Leidos Field at Ripken Stadium from Tuesday-Friday at 7:05 p.m. Saturday’s game is at 6:05 p.m., and Sunday’s is at 2:05 p.m.
