Just over 28,400 votes were cast in our latest Prep Ballplayer of the Week contest. And 57 percent of that went to Annapolis Area Christian School’s Matt Sowinski.
Sowinski is the second Eagle to win the award. The first? His twin brother and teammate Andrew, who earned the honors in April 2017 and 2018.
Matt Sowinski, a right-hander, allowed a run on three hits and struck out 14 in a complete game versus Park on April 5. Sowinski also had four hits and five RBIs as Annapolis Area Christian won, 10-1.
The senior was one of three candidates for the weekly award. He was joined by Mt. Hebron’s Magnus Dunn and McDonogh’s Kyle Whitaker.
In case you’re visiting our Prep Ballplayer voting for the first time, here’s how things work: Three candidates will be revealed each Monday. You get to vote in the poll – early and often – for the finalist you believe should be our winner. Voting ends every Thursday night and the winner is announced each Friday.
If you’re interested in submitting candidates for our consideration, please send the player’s name, key statistics from the previous week and your contact information to sean@baltimorebaseball.com. We welcome suggestions and your feedback.
