All three finalists mashed the baseball and had at least one breakout game.
Meade’s Derek Donastorg used consistency at the plate – six hits over three games — and a grand slam against Northeast on May 4 to catch the eyes of the voters and earn the top spot.
The senior infielder received roughly 3,300 votes or 63% of the weekly tally.
Archbishop Curley’s Paul Nixon finished second while Old Mill’s Markus Thompson placed third.
The playoff edition of our ‘Prep Ballplayer’ vote will kick off Monday when the new candidates are announced. We’ll also have a wrap up of what teams advanced through the early stages of the postseason.
As always, voting will run until late Thursday night with the results announced Friday.
