Andrew Sowinski’s pitching and hitting leads him to this week’s ‘Prep Ballplayer’ honors

Annapolis Area Christian School junior Andrew Sowinski had a big week at the plate.

The left-hander also was dominant on the mound – and that combination helped him win this week’s BaltimoreBaseball.com’s ‘Prep Ballplayer’ honors.

In two games, Sowinski threw 11 1/3 innings without allowing an earned run. He also added a two-run triple in one contest and four hits in the other.

The AACS faithful helped Sowinski secure 10,476 votes, good enough for 56 percent of the more than 19,000 cast – another tremendous response to our weekly poll.

Sowinski received the nod over two other standouts: Winters Mill junior infielder Grant Bradt, who had four homers and 14 RBIs in three games; and Patterson Mill senior right-hander Austin Koehn, who threw a two-hit, complete-game shutout and added a two-run double versus Bel Air.

We’ll have another group of three candidates Monday. Voting is conducted throughout the week and the winner is announced each Friday.

If you’re interested in submitting candidates for our consideration, please send the player’s name, key statistics from the previous week and your contact information by Sunday afternoon to sean@baltimorebaseball.com. We welcome suggestions and your feedback.
