One of the reasons I want people to listen to our weekly “Minor League Podcast” with Adam Pohl is because it routinely provides perspective that you can’t get anywhere else.

Pohl is the voice of the Double-A Bowie Baysox, so he sees a bunch of the Orioles’ minor leaguers throughout the season, and he gets a sense of what they can and can’t do.

But Pohl doesn’t rely simply on what he witnesses; he talks each week to other observers throughout the Orioles’ system.

This week’s segment is one of his best. Because he talks to two experts at two different levels of the farm system – and both offer their opinions on the players they see.

First, Pohl talks this week with David Hall, the Triple-A Norfolk beatwriter for the Virginian-Pilot. Hall does a tremendous job covering the Tides and, in this episode, he offers his take on the Norfolk Shuttle – the constant moving of players between Triple-A and the Orioles.

Hall also shares his opinions on specific Tides such as Drew Dosch, Chance Sisco, Jimmy Yacabonis and Johnny Giavotella.

Then Pohl switched gears and talks with Bowie’s pitching coach Kennie Steenstra. There’s some really good info here on several of the Baysox key hurlers such as Jesus Liranzo, Tanner Scott, John Means, Lucas Long and David Hess (pictured above).

If you haven’t heard Steenstra talk before, you’ll immediately pick up on how naturally he breaks things down into understandable terms. You can tell why he is so valued in the organization.

I know every week I write that you should listen to this podcast And I always mean it. But this one is particularly informative for Orioles’ fans.
