Jarod Baker stepped up when his Havre de Grace High School teammates needed it.
In a playoff game against Joppatowne, the senior right-hander threw a complete game, allowing four hits and one earned run while striking out six. He also helped at the plate, reaching base three times, scoring twice and driving in two runs.
For that effort, Baker won our ‘Prep Ballplayer of the Week’ award, receiving nearly 60 percent of 6,000 votes cast.
Baker edged out another dual threat who had a big week, Boys Latin sophomore Sam Grace, who picked up 40 percent of the vote. Annapolis Area Christian’s Steven O’Ferrall placed third.
We’ll have three more candidates Monday, and you can vote early and often through each Thursday night. Weekly winners are announced each Friday.
