Happy Thanksgiving.
Yes, it’s cliché, but on this day of reflection we at BaltimoreBaseball.com wanted to thank everyone for coming to the site this year. It’s been a heck of a ride in our start-up season, and we’ve been overwhelmed with the response so far – nearly eight million page views in eight months.
We’ve also been overwhelmed by the quality of talent that have joined us this year, including broadcaster Adam Pohl, writer Dean Jones Jr., and photographer Joy Absalon.
It’s the content that those pros have provided that I really think – or at least hope – makes this site unique for Orioles’ fans. Keep with us.
One of our coolest features is the weekly “Minor League Podcast,” in which Pohl, the voice of the Double-A Bowie Baysox, and Jones, minor-league writer for BaltimoreBaseball.com, break down what’s going on in the Orioles’ farm system.
This offseason, Pohl has analyzed each of the organization’s affiliates, and this week it’s time for his look at the Baysox.
Since there’s no one in the media with more knowledge of the Baysox, and because podcasts are so perfect for driving and listening to on holiday weekends, we decided to break Pohl’s Bowie segments into two parts.
Today’s podcast features Pohl’s insider’s view of Bowie pitching coach Alan Mills, who was promoted this week to be the Orioles’ bullpen coach in 2017. Pohl says everything is a teaching moment for the 50-year-old Mills, and he provides a couple interesting examples.
Pohl and Jones also discuss the Baysox pitching staff and a couple of the standout players that were in Bowie this year, including Trey Mancini, Chance Sisco and Chris Lee.
So, while you’re driving along the highway or on a couch in a turkey coma, check out Part 1 of our Baysox spotlight.
