During the next few weeks in our Minor League Podcast, we’ll be looking at particular affiliates in the Orioles organization and how they did in 2016.
But we took a break teams this week to really focus on a few individuals.
Adam Pohl, the voice of the Double-A Bowie Baysox, goes in-depth to look at the seasons turned in by lefty reliever Donnie Hart, who was named the Jim Palmer Pitcher of the Year Award winner, and catcher Chance Sisco, the Brooks Robinson Player of the Year Award winner.
Both received their awards Saturday, and Pohl gives some context to their minor league careers. He goes back into his archives to provide interviews with Hart and Sisco as their seasons were going on in Bowie this year.
There are some interesting nuggets in here, including what Orioles sidearmer Darren O’Day told Hart to stress as he honed his craft and why Sisco is able to keep calm under pressure.
Pohl also talks with BaltimoreBaseball.com’s minor league expert Dean Jones about Hart, Sisco and Baysox third baseman Drew Dosch, who won the Elrod Hendricks Community Service Award on Saturday.
They also touched on Trey Mancini’s big night Tuesday in his first game as an Oriole. And, as a bonus, Pohl features one of his Mancini home run calls from Bowie this year.
Lot of enthusiasm in this one, people. Check it out.
