Minor League Podcast: Looking back at the players and performances of 2016

The Orioles have about three weeks remaining in the 2016 regular season, but their minor league affiliates are finished for the year.

Our minor league team at BaltimoreBaseball.com, though, is still going strong – and will throughout the winter.

Today’s “Minor League Podcast with Adam Pohl” focuses on the 2016 minor league season throughout the organization.

Pohl, the voice off the Double-A Bowie Baysox, talks with our minor league expert, Dean Jones Jr., about a whole bunch of Orioles prospects.

Pohl and Jones name their surprises this year – the guys who came out of nowhere to impress and the guys who broke down and have taken a step backward.

They look at the 2016 draft class and also get in-depth about some of the club’s top prospects – such as Trey Mancini, Chance Sisco (pictured above), Tanner Scott and Chris Lee — and whether we may see them in Baltimore in 2017.

Pohl and Jones make their predictions as to who will win the organization’s awards for top position player and pitcher this year. Sisco, a 21-year-old catcher who made it all the way to Triple-A Norfolk, seems to be a slam-dunk for the Brooks Robinson Award.

But the Jim Palmer Award winner may be a guy that a lot of fans forgot about – or don’t know much about, anyway. Jones gets us up to speed on him (we’ll leave this one as a bit of a mystery).

There are so many names thrown around in this session it’ll make your head spin.

So if you love talk about prospects, this particular podcast is a can’t-miss.
