Know Your O’s: Dylan Bundy

FREE ARTICLE

He has been in the organization for five years, but how much do you really know about Orioles’ right-hander Dylan Bundy?

I’m sure, by now, you know he has a tremendously talented right arm. And that he has dealt with serious injuries the past few years that delayed his permanent arrival in the majors.

And you obviously know about his work ethic; you don’t battle back from elbow surgery and shoulder calcification unless you bust your butt and are dedicated to your craft.

But there is plenty more to this 23-year-old besides being able to seemingly locate any pitch he wants at any time.

Like how did that advanced understanding of pitching come to be?

What did his father do to help two young boys learn the game in rural Oklahoma?

What would it be like for Bundy if his older brother, Bobby, joined him in the majors?

What was the inspiration for the T-shirts Bundy bought the guys in the bullpen?

And what are some of the things Bundy has done to pass the time when he isn’t pitching? I’ll give you one: Once, while rehabbing his elbow, he built a replica of his house out of popsicle sticks and stone. Seriously.

Yep. There’s more to this guy than a mid-90s fastball and a devastating curve. So watch this segment of “Know Your O’s” to see another side of the pitcher who has become the Orioles’ biggest revelation in 2016.
