Kim leaves game with strained right hamstring

The Orioles headed into Sunday afternoon knowing they’d be in first place in the AL East at the All Star Break no matter the outcome.

That’s the good news. The bad news is one of their most pleasant surprises do far in 2016 didn’t make it through the game.

Left fielder Hyun Soo Kim was removed before the second inning started with what the Orioles are calling a strained right hamstring.

Kim hit a grounder in the first inning and ran slowly up the first base line. He went back to the dugout and Joey Rickard replaced him in left field in the top of the second.

Kim was hitting .329 with a .410 on-base percentage and a .454 slugging percentage in 152 at-bats before the injury. The Orioles may have more information on the severity of the strain after Sunday’s game.

They have four days off before beginning the second half Friday at Tampa Bay.
