One year ago today, the Orioles announced they had dealt two international bonus slots to the Houston Astros for a Low-A left-hander named Chris Lee. I don’t think anyone thought much of the deal at the time.
Since then, Lee has posted a 2.91 ERA over 151 2/3 innings between High-A Frederick and Double-A Bowie. He’s far from overpowering; Lee has struck out just 87 batters over those 151+ innings. But he’s left handed, he’s 23 years old, and he’s recorded a 2.41 ERA for Bowie to start 2016. Add it all up, and you’ve certainly got one of the top, two-to-three pitching prospects in the O’s minor leagues.
