Bel Air’s Yetter wins our third ‘Prep Player of the Week’

As a Harford County native, I’m quite proud to announce Michael Yetter as our third ‘Prep Player of the Week’ winner here at BaltimoreBaseball.com. He may not attend my alma mater, C. Milton Wright, but I won’t hold that against him. Not only because I’m a nice guy, but more so because he earned it.

Yetter vaulted to the top of our voting after a stellar week on the mound. Pitching five innings of scoreless relief on April 22 against county rival North Harford, the right-hander led Bel Air to a come-from-behind, 3-2 victory. And, oh yeah, he struck out nine and allowed just two hits in the process.

The performance spurred Yetter to over 6,000 votes, edging this week’s other fine candidates — Trevor Sprinkle (Calvert Hall) and Casey Crawford (Howard). These results put us at an astounding 65,000 votes cast over the past three weeks for nine outstanding local high school players. The response we’ve seen is a testament to both the quality of play in our area and the support each nominee has garnered from friends, family, and the community.
