Dan Connolly has spent more than two decades as a print journalist in Pennsylvania and Maryland. The Baltimore native and Calvert Hall graduate first covered the Orioles as a beat writer for the York (Pennsylvania) Daily Record in 2001 before becoming The Baltimore Sun’s national baseball writer/Orioles reporter in 2005. He has won multiple state and national writing awards, including several from the Associated Press Sports Editors. In 2013 he was named Maryland Co-Sportswriter of the Year by the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association. And in 2015, he authored his first book, “100 Things Orioles Fans Should Know & Do Before They Die.” He lives in York, with his wife, Karen, and three children, Alex, Annie, and Grace.


  Dean Jones Jr.  

Minor League Expert

Born in 1985 and raised since then in Baltimore, Dean Jones Jr. has had a recurring nightmare that he’ll spend his entire life like those Boston Red Sox fans who were born in the early 1920s and died before seeing their hometown team finally win another World Series title in 2004. After graduating from Towson University in 2007, Dean started working at The Baltimore Sun. In nearly eight years at The Sun, Dean worked in a variety of roles – from web producer to covering the Orioles minor leagues to overseeing the organization’s Orioles coverage. The Archbishop Curley graduate currently provides BaltimoreBaseball.com readers with updates about the Orioles’ minor league system, as well as high school baseball in the Baltimore area. He lives in Perry Hall with his wife, Jessica, and two sons, Gavin and Mason.


  Adam Pohl  

Host, Minor League Podcast

Adam Pohl is the host of the Orioles Minor League Podcast on BaltimoreBaseball.com. Pohl is the longest standing lead play-by-play broadcaster in the Orioles’ Minor Leagues entering his 11th season calling games in the O’s farm system. Pohl is the current voice of the Bowie Baysox (2014-Present) but has also called games for the Frederick Keys (2007-13), Salem Avalanche (2005-06) and Burlington Indians (2003-04) in professional baseball prior. He has called each of the last three Orioles’ Minor League Championships (Frederick 2007, 2011; Bowie 2015) and was Master of Ceremonies for the Opening Session of the Winter Meetings in 2016. Away from baseball, Pohl is the voice of Mount St. Mary’s Men’s Basketball. Pohl and his wife Angela live in Odenton, MD.


  Joy Absalon  


Joy Absalon was born in Washington, DC and grew up in McLean, VA and was immersed in baseball from a very young age. Her older brother Paul was a standout high school pitcher who was scouted by numerous MLB teams. After several years in bank management she decided to leave that career and combine her passions for photography and baseball. She began her baseball photography career covering minor league teams for TriStar, Just Minors and Major League Baseball Advanced Media. In the late 1990’s, she began covering the Orioles and worked for two different wire services before joining BaltimoreBaseball.com in March 2016. Joy’s work has appeared in Sports Illustrated, The Sporting News, ESPN the Magazine, The Baltimore Sun, USA Today and numerous other newspapers. In addition her images have appeared on baseball cards for various companies. Joy is also the contract photographer covering the Perfect Game Showcase for Leaf Trading Cards. Joy lives in Clifton, Virginia with her husband of 34 years, John.


  Paul Folkemer

Paul Folkemer is a Baltimore-born, lifelong Orioles fan who has been writing about the team since high school, when he used to post O’s game recaps to online message boards before finishing his homework. Now a seasoned veteran of Orioles coverage, Paul served as the Orioles beat reporter for four years for PressBox and PressBoxOnline.com before joining BaltimoreBaseball.com, and he previously wrote for Camden Chat and Orioles Hangout. He currently lives in Catonsville.


  Harrison Swartz  

College Baseball Writer

College baseball writer Harrison Swartz is the play-by-play voice for the Johns Hopkins University baseball team as well as the Baltimore Redbirds, a member of the Cal Ripken Collegiate Baseball League. A Dallastown, Pa. resident, Swartz has been working in college baseball in the Baltimore area for approximately three years.

Steve Cockey is a lifelong Orioles fan who grew up in Harford County and is a graduate of both C. Milton Wright High School and Loyola University Maryland. Steve’s passion for both baseball and internet advertising — his “day job” — led him to start BaltimoreBaseball.com in early 2016. He is a current resident of the Canton neighborhood of Baltimore and credits his love of baseball to his dad, Dr. Stephen Cockey, Sr.
