Orioles pitcher Luis De Leon gets warmed up. The Baltimore Orioles began full-squad workouts this week at Ed Smith Stadium in Sarasota as the 2026 spring training season gets started. The Grapefruit Leage features 15 Major League Baseball teams that hold spring training in Florida. Games start this weekend and run up to opening day on March 25, 2026.
DENVER—The Orioles made a bevy of moves ahead of Tuesday’s game against the Rockies as rosters expanded to 28 players.
Outfielder Luis Robert Jr., who was claimed off waivers from the New York Mets on Monday, was activated. Outfielder/designated hitter Heston Kjerstad was recalled from Triple-A Norfolk. Left-handed pitcher Luis De León and right-hander Albert Suárez had their contracts selected from Norfolk.
Left-hander Cade Povich, who started Monday night’s game, was optioned to Triple-A Norfolk, and outfielder Christian Franklin was placed on the 10-day injured list with left hand inflammation. That move is retroactive to Monday.
Right-hander Cameron Weston and left-hander Nick Raquet were designated for assignment to make room for De León and Suárez on the 40-man roster.
Weston pitched a scoreless inning for the Orioles on May 28th. Raquet, who had a 7.36 ERA in four appearances, left Sunday’s Norfolk game with left elbow discomfort.
