Orioles recall Brandon Young to start Monday’s game against White Sox as Enns goes to injured list

CHICAGO—The Orioles recalled right-hander Brandon Young from Triple-A Norfolk to start Monday night’s game against the White Sox.

Left-hander Dietrich Enns has been placed on the 15-day injured list with a left foot infection. That move is retroactive to Saturday.

Young, who was 1-7 with a 6.24 ERA in 12 starts last season, takes the place of Zach Eflin in the rotation.

He was optioned to minor league camp on March 7th after a 2.25 ERA in two games this spring. Young allowed one run on five hits in five innings for Triple-A Norfolk in his only start for the Tides.

Last season, Young pitched 7 2/3 perfect innings at Houston on August 16th for his only win. In his next start, he suffered a season-ending hamstring injury.

Enns has a 4.15 ERA in three games.

The move leaves the Orioles with just one available left-hander, Grant Wolfram, in the bullpen for Monday night’s game. Cade Povich pitched 5 2/3 innings in relief of Chris Bassitt on Sunday.
