How does Orioles’ Opening Day compare with others? | MAILBAG

Question: I’m just wondering because I’ve never been to any others, are the Orioles’ Opening Day festivities the best around the league?  I mean the orange carpet, the fireworks and the fans. Does it get any better than that? From: Brian Funk

Answer: Brian, I’ve been to a handful of other team’s Opening Day ceremonies, Toronto, Tampa Bay, Boston and New York in recent years, and I’m sure their fans all find those to be memorable.

The Orioles’ opener fits Baltimore. The new players talked about watching videos of previous Opening Days and wanted to make sure that they were able to navigate the orange carpet.

It really doesn’t matter how it compares with others. If you enjoy it, that’s all that matters.

Question: Are the Orioles scheduled to wear that gawd-awful all orange uniform anytime this year? From: Jon Weaver (Kansas long time Orioles fan)

Answer: Jon, I’m not sure this is relevant, but as a child, my favorite color was orange, and I didn’t grow up as an Orioles fan. As a result, I have to dispute your description of those uniforms.

The Orioles may break out the orange uniforms this year, but don’t have any specific plans to do so yet.
