Are Orioles shopping for another left-handed reliever? | MAILBAG

Question: I recognize the Orioles are short on left-handed relievers with Keegan Akin ailing. Dietrich Enns has had a consistently terrible spring. Given his salary, Enns could easily pass through waivers. Is Enns on thin ice? Are you hearing anything about the Orioles seeking another left-hander for their bullpen? From: Craig Russell

Answer: Craig, I don’t think Dietrich Enns’ place on the team is in danger, but rosters won’t be set until Wednesday, so a lot can happen between now and then. The Orioles also have Grant Wolfram, who’s had an excellent spring.

It wouldn’t surprise me if the team added another reliever, particularly a left-hander, between now and Wednesday. Mike Elias said on Saturday he’d be carefully watching the waiver wire.

Question: Has the public address sound system at Camden Yards finally been corrected, with the recent stadium improvements? From: Joel

Answer: Joel, yes, the public address system has been improved, and it sounded great on Sunday. I look forward to hearing more fans’ comments.

Correction: I misunderstood the question Jim Fickel posed yesterday on the difference between optioning a player to minor league camp and reassigning them to minor league camp.

Before Opening Day, players who are on the 40-man roster are optioned to minor league camp while those who have been to invited to spring training on minor league contracts are reassigned to minor league camp by their teams.
