Orioles sign 3 more high draft picks

The Orioles have had a busy two days of signing draft choices. On Friday, they signed catchers Ike Irish and Caden Bodine, their first two picks, the 19 and 30th overall.

Saturday has brought the signing of their third first-round pick, shortstop Wehiwa Aloy, the 31st pick; left-handed pitcher Joseph Dzierwa, chosen in the second round; and right-hander JT Quinn, who was their competitive balance round B pick.

Aloy hit .350 with a 1.107 OPS with 21 home runs and 68 RBIs for Arkansas and won the Golden Spikes Award for the best college b aseball player in the U.S. Adley Rutschman won the award in 2019.

Dzierwa, the 58th pick, was 8-3 with a 2.36 ERA in 15 starts for Michigan State. He struck out 104 and walked 22 in 91 2/3 innings.

Quinn, the 69th pick, was 1-1 with a 2.75 ERA and a save with 49 strikeouts and 17 walks in 36 innings for Georgia.

The Orioles have signed five of their first six draft picks. The highest unsigned pick is Oregon high school outfielder Slater de Brun, their pick in competitive balance round A, the 37th overall.
