The Orioles on Wednesday claimed right-handed pitcher Elvin Rodríguez off waivers from the Milwaukee Brewers and optioned him to Triple-A Norfolk.
In parts of three major league season, the 27-year-old is 0-6 with a 9.23 ERA in 14 games, seven starts, with Detroit, Tampa Bay and Milwaukee.
Rodriguez has allowed 19 home runs in 51 2/3 major league innings, more than three per nine innings.
His addition gives the Orioles 39 players on the 40-man roster.
